The case is the death of Talina Galloway, 53, of Wagoner County, Oklahoma, who was reported missing in April 2020; her remains were found in Arkansas in January 2021. Her roommate, Kore Bommeli, pleaded no contest in September 2026 to first-degree manslaughter and two other counts and was sentenced to 35 years, Oklahoma stations reported. NBC's fall schedule keeps Dateline NBC across 9–11 p.m. on Fridays, and from Oct. 23 a comedy block fills the 8 p.m. hour ahead of it. The episode before it, "Unmasking the Monster" on Oct. 2, had Blayne Alexander reporting on the Dana Beatty case, which goes back to 1989.

Why is Dateline off on weeknights and Saturdays?
It has been a Friday show for years, and NBC did not put a midweek Dateline special on the board for late September. Between-season Fridays usually carry a repeat rather than a new hour; listings for those nights are marked (R) with the original air date.
Repeats still stream. Peacock carries the library, and the Dateline podcast feed runs the audio versions, which is the practical answer when a night is empty.
What was "The Grudge," the Sept. 4 repeat?
An hour on the July 19, 2020 attack at the North Brunswick, New Jersey, home of federal judge Esther Salas. A gunman posing as a delivery driver killed her 20-year-old son, Daniel Anderl, and critically wounded her husband, defense attorney Mark Anderl. Investigators identified the shooter as Roy Den Hollander, a lawyer with a grievance against the judge; he was found dead days later and authorities said he died by suicide.
The episode's centerpiece was the first interview with FBI Special Agent Joe Denahan, who led the investigation, alongside Salas. Denahan told Dateline that Daniel and Mark's response at the door kept the attacker from getting further into the house. It first aired Jan. 21, 2021, with Andrea Canning reporting.
What happened to the law named after Daniel Anderl?
New Jersey passed Daniel's Law in November 2020, letting judges, prosecutors and law enforcement officers demand that their home addresses and unlisted phone numbers be taken down. The federal Daniel Anderl Judicial Security and Privacy Act was attached to the annual defense bill and signed in December 2022, limiting the public posting and commercial sale of federal judges' personal information.
Both remain in force, and the state version is being tested. On Aug. 12, 2026, the New Jersey Supreme Court decided Atlas Data Privacy Corp. v. We Inform, LLC, holding that Daniel's Law does not require proof a data broker acted knowingly, recklessly or negligently before actual damages can be awarded. The court answered only that narrow question; whether the law survives a First Amendment challenge now goes back to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, with hundreds of removal-request suits riding on it.
